Marianne Williamson and Robert Kennedy Jr have both entered the Democratic Party Primary race.
We can applaud them for the courage it takes to oppose the Democratic National Committee (DNC) Establishment’s wishes. I personally applaud anyone that defies the corrupt DNC no matter from what direction it comes or for what purpose. The DNC fully deserves to be defied!!!
That said, we have to consider what this means for us - and for our mission to remove the corruption from our lives. Are these candidates Trojan Horses designed to manipulate our allegiance into ultimately supporting the very corruption we oppose? Or are these candidates true voices supporting our mission?
We need to be cautious. They are sending us mixed messages. That won’t work. We need to ensure there is alignment among us all. We need to have the commitment to the agenda we demand. We have been snookered by Trojan Horse candidates before.
Bernie Sanders (twice) has risen up to defy the DNC Establishment. Both times, he acquiesced to support the DNC’s coronation of Hillary Clinton (in 2016) and Joe Biden (in 2020). He immediately embraced who he rose up against with his endorsement and even took to campaigning for his opponent. And he did not hold out for any concessions in return. He could have because we were all there to support and amplify him. But he didn't.
To punctuate what is a clear betrayal, Bernie has already immediately endorsed Joe Biden again - quickly and without holding out for any concessions once again. In no uncertain terms - he threw us under the bus.
“The Squad” and the “Progressive Caucus” have also abandoned us in similar fashion. They too failed to secure a single concession in exchange for effectively giving full power to the DNC Establishment. Instead of defying Nancy Pelosi, they gave her a group hug! They dashed our hopes which we gave them in the form of our energy, donations and support. They threw us under the bus.
We have two demands for both Marianne and Robert. And we have to withhold our commitment until we get it. We have to press these candidates to put up clear unambiguous statements that declare:
They represent the people and not the DNC; and
They commit to dismantling the DNC as a priority on their platform.
Without these commitments, we are unable to place our trust in them. It really is that basic. We do not want to be thrown under the bus again.
The absence of this commitment should nullify them from receiving our support.
Both of these candidates have voiced early statements acknowledging their embrace of Joe Biden (and those supporting him) as their ‘friends’. That they will undertake a ‘friendly campaign’ against him. That is a big concern.
They cannot satisfy our demands for the removal of corruption while embracing the corrupt as their friends. It cannot be both. They directly contradict each other. Robert and Marianne need to listen up: we want the corruption removed!!!!
We have made the mistake of not holding firm on our demands over and over. Every single time we have paid the price by only getting more corruption for our trust.
We have been thrown under the bus repeatedly.
Barack Obama initiated the voice for change. His slogan “Hope and Change” embodied our actual hope for change. We trusted him (twice). Donald Trump also recognized not only our frustration with the Establishment, but our absolute outrage at it with his slogan to “Drain the Swamp”. We trusted him.
We gave them our hope for change and supported the draining of the swamp. Neither delivered on their promises. They threw us under the bus. They actually joined the enemy and escalated the corruption. It’s worse now than ever!
We can no longer afford a repeat of this betrayal. Words and slogans are not enough. The commitment is absolutely required. Those commitments have to be in-place to gain our trust. The commitment has to be clear and unambiguous. The political games of embracing the Establishment while simultaneously calling for its purge is a risk we - as the people - cannot support. We just cannot take that risk.
Meanwhile, we have to ask why such a commitment is impossible. It shouldn’t be. It should be easy - if they are here on the scene and asking for us to support them - it should be a simple commitment to make. Joe Biden is not our friend. He represents our enemy. He does not deserve a seat at our table - he deserves nothing short of his complete removal from our lives. These candidates who have stepped up to oppose Biden - need to actually oppose Biden. Not hug him.
The famous Albert Einstein quote applies in fully obvious terms here.
We are not insane. We need to avoid making the same mistake. And Robert F Kennedy Jr and Marianne Williamson are not listening to the people they seek to support them if they cannot see this. Their commitment to us is an absolute must!
The current embrace of Joe Biden and the DNC as their friends is a red warning flag. It signals that they could very well be a Trojan Horse for the very enemy. Is there any other possible way we can look at it? I can’t find one.
I am not alone in withholding my trust. Many of us see the Trojan Horse possibility. We have learned not to be burned again. We are not insane.
They can stand their course and continue to embrace the DNC and Joe Biden - trying to walk some thin line between the people and the scourge of corruption that holds back the people. That is their choice. However, choosing to walk this line only creates an illusion that there is no line. But there is. The line is absolute. Walking it greatly reduces their chances for victory and the people’s chances for victory. Their stance guarantees we all lose.
They need our support - and we cannot give it without the commitment we require. We cannot support any candidate that refuses to directly call out the very corruption this is holding back our lives. We demand that the corrupt Establishment be removed. Choosing the people or the Establishment is a requirement. That is the line. There is only a binary choice. Choose the people or choose the corrupt Establishment.
The DNC is a corrupt organization. They perch themselves smack dab in the middle; wedged between the people and their government. They even declared it to be their legal right to do so - which is a declaration of their right to interfere with democracy itself. I am not stating an opinion on this - it is their factual on-record declaration. They themselves have formally declared themselves to be a “private organization” that can select their own candidate without any regard for what the people wish.
The corruption is in plain sight! It is disgusting. And we refuse to accept it. Remove them.
We already know that the 2024 election is likely to end up being a repeat of the 2020 election with the DNC selecting Joe Biden and the RNC likely selecting Donald Trump. The polls repeatedly demonstrate the refusal of the public to accept them. But the corrupt political party institutions refuse democracy. This is already rigged. The corruption is so deep - that any alternative candidate absolutely has to call it out to be credible.
Here is a recent tweet posted by a member of the political Establishment. It really is pathetic. And it represents the exact opposite of what we all want.
Imagine this because it is real. We are being told to accept Garbage Pile A because it is not as bad as Garbage Pile B. It is the propaganda narrative we are going to hear repeatedly for the next 18-months. With both parties repeatedly drilling us with calls to “save our democracy” by the very people who are stealing our democracy. That is nuts!!!!
We refuse to accept this. We want these corrupt non-elected self-serving promoters of the corporate interests removed from our freedom to govern ourselves. Robert Kennedy Jr and Marianne Williamson know it too. They need to find the courage to declare it and commit to it.
None of this is complicated. Support democracy by standing with the people, or support corruption by standing with the corruptors. There is no line to walk. There is only a choice to make.
If they can commit to us - we can commit to them. We can elevate their candidacy with all our energy. We can push us all to victory. They need us to win this. We need them to win this. We have to be on the same page to all win this.
The commitment to the people is what triggers everything. We can win this. Is either Robert F Kennedy Jr or Marianne Williamson the path to our victory? That depends on them. They can unify us and grab the reins of all our energy to propel us all to victory, or they can just be another blip on the timeline of history representing the failure to achieve the change we all seek.
What do we need to do? Press RFK Jr and Marianne Williamson to meet our demand. Our demand is simple - it is to give their commitment to us. We can then commit ourselves to them. Demand their commitment to reject the DNC.
If they can’t, we have to reject them - the absence of their commitment risks them being nothing more than Trojan Horses. We can now see a Trojan Horse when it is weaponized against us. We have learned. We are not insane.
Dear Robert and Marianne:
We demand the removal of the corruption in our government and our political institutions. The DNC embodies that corruption. We demand that you commit to removing that corruption.
You need us to achieve victory. We need you to achieve victory. We can only succeed by defeating our common enemy. We cannot believe in you if you cannot decisively call out the enemy we face. The common ground we have to share is to commit to the removal of the corruption we all suffer from.
There is a lot of power in unity - in us all standing together. Let’s embrace that power and win this. We can. We can welcome and embrace you.
It’s your move.
Sincerely,
The People
We are in a class war. These candidates have to commit to us. We have to demand it.
So we can commit to them.
All our power comes from joining together in one unified force to defeat the corruption that is stifling our futures. Unified, we have all the energy we need to win this. We can win this.
I can go along with progressive action to get progressive candidates elected and thus progressive policies into law. But faulting any elected official for not immediately running against a sitting President is naive at best. If anyone in office declared a run for President against a sitting President, it would be political suicide. You really shouldn't overlook that.
I get that too many politicians are backing a presumptive nominee, because that is politically expedient, but it truly angers me that corporate media & the establishment is pretending there is a presumptive nominee and thereby making it so. It is extremely anti-democratic, and it actually stifles debate and the free-flow of ideas!
What might be fascinating will be to see Marianne, RFKJr, and Dr West on a stage debating the issues! Including an Independent candidate like Dr West would go a long way in moving the Overton Window & for people to get behind something like your plan.
I truly do believe, even though Independents are a non-party, I still think we should organize a primary for Indy's, if anything to keep ghost candidates off the ballot, and thus to unify the votes in general elections.
I don't know about Williamson, but I believe RFK Jr is trustworthy. He is also intelligent enough to see things clearly, strategic enough to collaborate with enemies when necessary to achieve goals and courageous enough to defy even the most deadly and entrenched deep state agencies.
His intelligence and strategic skills (from being an attorney) often result in nuanced positions that come across as wishy-washy to those who want simple black-and-white answers. How can he threaten to "remove" the DNC when he is seeking its nomination?
I would suggest what we're really asking for is reform-- an end to superdelegates, a DNC bylaw-level commitment to abide by the will of the voters and a redoubled effort to end e-voting and make sure every state has secure, verifiable, fair elections with hand-marked paper ballots, tight chain of ballot custody, etc. Such constructive commitments/requests will raise the candidates standing in the eyes of voters who share our concerns about the corruption of the DNC, yet may still be wary of completely replacing/rebuilding the DNC as perhaps a too "destructive" approach.
The biggest problem is how are we to believe anyone, no matter what they say, after we've been sold out these past 8 years? After listening to and reading RFK Jr in many interviews and his books, I feel convinced that he will be a very different politician from what we've become accustomed to. He'll be more like the JFK and RFK of old.
I support your idea to confront the candidates with the history of how we've been Bern'ed in the past, and demand a more tangle commitment to avoid repeating that experience. I hope we can agree on a list of reforms/demands that is doable and workable for candidates in the situation they're currently in, seeking the nomination of an existing DNC.
Thanks for reaching out. I'm happy to discuss this more. My substack, btw, is at martintruther.substack.com
